Always with a tinge of sadness, I have said good-bye to many of my pieces. But always, the immense pleasure is the knowledge that others too enjoy my art, so much that they love to hang my art in their homes, or equally special, give it as a gift to someone dear to them.
I am buoyed by this validation of my work, and humbly grateful.
So to all those who have purchased my art, I thank you. It encourages me to continue with passion.

After The Rain [Reservoir Track, Mt Coot-tha Forest] [Sold]
Forever home in Sunshine Beach
I love bush walking, but I especially love walking in the bush after the rain. There is something special in the air. It's cool; fresh and clean.
There's a smell of rain - 'petrichor' (yes it has a name!) - you know that smell.
And the colours - the foliage, the tree trunks ... they are so vibrant.
This piece is dedicated to that magic, inspired by a walk in my local bushland on Resevoir Track, in the Mt Coot-tha Forest (Brisbane.)
If you haven't been, you must; and if you're really lucky, it might have just rained!

Grecian Blues [SOLD] Forever home in Brisbane
I'm a lover of doors... I know there's others out there the same!
They say so much. They are the portal that provides a glimpse of the people who live there: perhaps houseproud and oozing with warm hospitality, perhaps with a passion for colour and flare for gardening?
There are so many examples, all over Europe; beautiful, rustic, colourful... And it seems, no matter how old or dilapidated an entrance, you feel welcome. You are invited in in with a shot of vibrant yet soothing colour. The wildly abundant yet not overly-tended flowers offer a nurturing comfort - acceptance and security. There's a love for the simple things in life: understated but abundantly clear. You are most welcome!

Casa di Callas [SOLD]
Forever home in Cairns
Memorable elegance in nature and art,
This piece began as a commission. The customer, I know well. She is Italian, like my mother. She's now an Australian, and with her hubby and young family, she is embracing all there is about Australia.
But the memories of who she is, where she is from, linger.
And I know that Callas are pretty much a weed where she comes from. They grow in the creeks, making a statement by demanding attention with their slender tall elegance. For her, (and for my mum), they symbolise a purity, an innocence, of childhood memories, of family, of all that is familiar: and that indisputable Italian style!
The original has been warmly welcomed into her home: but 100 limited edition reproductions are still on offer, if you too want to celebrate these beauties in style!

Aussie Dream Catcher [Sold]
Forever home in Mt Isa,
Have you been mesmerized by gum blossoms blowing on the breeze?
I adore our gums... Their strength, their rustling leaves, their blossoms. If I have the time, I love to lay on the lawn and watch them sway in the breeze. My mind wanders.. I find I can breathe, soak in the warmth... and dream.
They remind me of Aussie Dream Catchers.
Time to dream!

I See Your Glow [Sold]
Forever home in Cairns
Sunflowers - these striking giant boppy blooms light up a vase, a room, a field! The joy these flowers bring is unmistakeable... and contagious! All those smiley little suns grinning away at you, bright and warm and yellow.
It's undeniable: you can't help but smile when you see them..
I grew up with fields of these around me in the 'off' season - miles and miles of golden green that touched the bluest of skies and puffiest of clouds.
Truly stuff dreams are made of. It is so it is lovely to have finally painted a cheery tribute to them and my memories!
Did you know:
In Italian, sunflowers are called 'girasole', which translates to 'turn to the sun' - as they literally follow the sun, from dawn to dusk!
The sunflower is the only flower with the word "flower" in its name?
You can feel their glow .. (nah just kidding! ....But maybe, just maybe?)

Sunkissed Hydrangeas [Sold]
These magical mopheads make me happy - their beautifully intricate blooms, each a different shade of pastel, are so pretty, so feminine... soooo lovely.
I can hear the bees buzzing, I can feel the warmth of the sunshine: even on a cloudy day!
I wanted to capture their beauty, the profusion of prettiness, so I could bring the outside in, so we can enjoy them all year round!

Daintree Surprise [SOLD]
Forever Home in Cairns
A tropical turquoise oasis to delight the senses!
Daintree Surprise is a window to the magical wonderland that is our beautiful rainforests. Calming yet intricately busy, lush and delightful, alive with colour and activity... This intuitive piece began with cooling colours, my mind being drawn to tropical turquoise, teal and pink. What evolved was a rainforest escape, reminiscent of those I explore when visiting our National Parks, like the world heritage listed Daintree.
We are so lucky to have these ecosystems on our doorstep. We are merely custodians of this unique world - we need to protect it for future generations to enjoy.

Watercolour on Ply
Forever Home in Brisbane
Escape ... to pristine turquoise waters ... to freedom
Watercolours are my first love. Albeit wildly delightfully unpredictable (i.e. fun!?), they are also steeped in tradition conformity. This doesn’t sit well with me – I love pushing the boundaries.
With 'Escape', I wanted to use watercolours, but not framed paper under glass. I wanted a fresh natural piece that captured a coastal vibe.
And so I chose to prep ply as the substrate, then splashed about… and 'escaped' to create an artwork with a sun bleached, whitewashed look. I'm so happy with the outcome: the ply timber gives this a lovely texture easily discernible through the translucency of the watercolour. It hangs on the wall like a piece of driftwood would, and finished with a natural soft buffed wax.
This piece is an impetuous and free depiction of crystal clear turquoise waters, created from the mental vision I have of the many beautiful beaches I have visited. Every time I see it this artwork, I escape to a place of beauty and tranquillity: where the only sound is the waves gently washing into the shore.
Can you hear the calm?

One Perfect Day
Forever Home in Sunshine Bay, NSW
Hey there turtle!
The inspiration behind this piece are my snorkelling adventures... When I snorkel, I know I don't belong in the silent, magical undersea world. I know I am a lucky bystander. But although I don't belong, I feel welcomed... (so long as I mind my own business!) With majestic giant turtles, I float crystal clear turquoise waters and truly live the experience, forgetting the world of chaos above.
Immersed in calm, I drift wherever the currents takes me...
This is one perfect day!

Nature's Stage: Backlit - Fine Art Reproductions Available
How magnificent it is when the glow of the setting sun lights up the landscape!
As with most of my pieces, 'Natures Stage - Backlit' began with nothing - bar the thrill of creating: I had no plans, no preconceived ideas, no subject material. I applied acrylic colour washes, and watched eagerly as the layers evolved. I am always curious to see where a piece is taking me.
I love this process, I find it freeing, therapeutic, calming. The clouds were the first 'fixture' of this painting, glowing yet dark and moody... What has taken shape in the final painting is truly original. What I love more is that it is truly an extension of my imagination, with a magical whimsical vibe in one of my favourite colour palettes.

Break of Dawn: Fine Art Reproductions available
Re-worked from the original 'Break of Dawn’, this piece began it's life as an abstract. Heavily influenced by the emotional impact of changes brought about by Covid 19, it evolved to become a figurative statement on our society. The title remained appropriate: Covid 19 brought about a new dawn for our race. There has been so many changes - I raise the question: for worse or for better?
Personally I treasure the lessons of togetherness - whilst paradoxically - separated from our work/social lives, we have been thrown together as a family unit. This has its blessings: a chance to catch your breath, following on from what was for many of us, chaotic lives.
Did we embrace the simple life? Did we rise to the challenge of re-evaluating of our relationships with others? Was the upheaval too much?
Covid 19 has been undeniably unprecedented. But has it been all bad? Like the natural earth, we have had the opportunity to re-set, re-evaluate, re-direct our future.
